Q: Why should I choose you to design my website?

A: Firstly, I am available personally to my clients, either by phone or e-mail. This means that I contacted easily at any time knowing exactly your requirements and how the site operates. Secondly, I have over 10 years experience on the Internet and a clear idea of how to make a website appealing, as well as beneficial. Finally, I am enthusiastic about my work and the Internet which motivates me to produce high quality solutions and impress clients. To ensure you are happy with the work being carried out, I try to provide regular updates during development so that feedback can be gained and the site updated accordingly.

Q: Where can I find a copy of your CV?

A: My CV can be downloaded here.

Q: I have logos which I would like incorporated into the design. Is this possible?

A: It is easy to take existing images or photographs and include them in the design of a website. Alternatively, I can take digital photographs of anything you would like included on the site. Company logos and colour schemes can also be incorporated.

Q: Who writes the content for our web site? How regularly should it be updated?

A: I do not specialise in writing content beyond specific search engine optimisation techniques. Depending on the size of your organisation, it may be a good idea to assign a content manager who deals with the information to be added to the site. I can help in suggesting the content that should be found in each section and provide guidelines on language and quantity but it is best to write the actual information yourself to accurately reflect what you do. The frequency your site is updated depends on the pages on your site. News pages ought to be updated at least every week, larger sites should be updated every day or two. Some sites which serve to only provide information may not need to be updated very regularly at all. Some of the methods I employ when developing sites allows you to update content yourself without requiring an extensive technical vocabulary.

Q: Where do I store the files to be displayed on the Internet?

A: For a site to be displayed on the Internet, you require two parts: a domain name and a hosting server. The domain name (such as http://www.downthewaterfall.com) specifies a place on the World Wide Web that your site can be found and directs users to a particular machine that physically stores it. This machine is known as a hosting server and is most commonly provided by a hosting company. You may choose to host your server in-house, but this is not often recommended. If you provide your own hosting or have found a company you would like to host with, I will aid in the initial set up of the server and the site on it. I am also able to suggest a hosting provider that may suit your needs and to register and configure your domain name for you.

Q: How do I get a .com or .co.uk name?

A: We can purchase a domain name and set it up for you should you require this.

Q: Where are you located?

A: Oxford, England.

Q: I need my web site completed by a week today, can you do it?

A: Perhaps, get in touch and I will let you know whether it is possible given the number of projects I am currently working on. However, it is not generally sensible to rush a site in order to complete it unless your requirements are very specific. It is better to take a number of months to perfect a site than to build one in a short space of time and then need to create a new one to meet your requirements a couple of months later.
